Madison Organist Amanda Tsukamoto Performs Baroque Recital

Amanda Tsukamoto of Madison will be the featured musician in the organ recital on Friday, August 20th from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm at Grace Episcopal Church, Madison Avenue at Kings Road in Madison. This concert is a part of the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey's 2010 Summer Festival of Baroque Music. She will perform an all Bach program, including the Toccata and Fugue in D minor.

Tsukamoto, Madison High School Class of 2006, graduated summa cum laude from Drew University in May with a B.A. in music and a B.A. in mathematics. She received her secondary teaching certification in mathematics and will start her teaching career at Chatham Middle School in the fall.

Tsukamoto, currently the Organ Scholar of Grace Episcopal Church, is a member of the American Guild of Organists. She is also a freelance organist, often serving at Christ Church of Short Hills, Community Congregational Church in Short Hills, Ogden Memorial Presbyterian Church in Chatham, Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston, First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon, Madison Presbyterian Church and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chatham. She also teaches piano locally. She worked as a staff musician for the Drew University Theological School chapel and as the organist and children's choir director at the Green Village United Methodist Church. A member of the Madison Arts and Culture Alliance, she enjoys music ministry and playing piano for private and charity events.

While at Drew, Tsukamoto was the President of the Drew University Music Society, a Jill Spurr Titus Music Scholar and the keyboard section leader for the Drew University Orchestra. She received Drew's Annual Music Award at graduation. She has performed solo recitals for the New Jersey Summer Baroque Festival and for Grace Episcopal Church's Lenten recitals. She volunteers for the American Red Cross and Morris Habitat for Humanity.

To enhance the audience's concert experience, cameras and projectors will be used to show hand and foot work. Lunch will be available for purchase after the recital. All are invited to attend. Admission to the recital is free.
