da Camera Concerts - Quicksilver Baroque Ensemble

Quicksilver is an exciting new group that brings together some of America's most prominent baroque instrumentalists. Led by violinists Robert Mealy and Julie Andrijeski, this ensemble explores the rich chamber music repertoire of the early modern period, from the strange and extravagant trio sonatas of the 17th century to the spectacular chamber music of the High Baroque. Early Music America remarked that the members of Quicksilver are "all virtuoso soloists in their own right, and together their playing is drop-dead gorgeous."  Their new CD, Stile Moderno, was described by Huffington Post as "Breakthrough of the Year ... a breathtaking recital"; it was recorded here at Drew University in May 2011.

This evening, Quicksilver will present "Fantasticus," an exploration of the extravagant and virtuosic chamber music of the German seventeenth century, featuring works by Johann Kaspar Kerll, Matthias Weckmann, David Pohle, and Antonio Bertali.

Robert Mealy and Julie Andrijeski, directors & violins; Dominic Teresi, bassoon; David Morris, cello; Charles Weaver, theorbo; Avi Stein, harpsichord
