Barrett to Managing Director of Shakespeare Theatre

Former banking executive had served as general manager since 2009.

announced that Jeanne Barrett, general manager of the Theatre since late 2009, has been named managing director.

The appointment became official at the Theatre’s annual meeting in December.

Barrett will oversee the business operations and finances of the Theatre, and, together with Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte and a team of six senior staff members oversee the production, artistic, education, development, and marketing operations.

“Jeanne’s work over the past year has been exemplary, and we are thrilled to partner her with Bonnie J. Monte to guide this extraordinary institution as it reaches new heights,” said Theatre Board of Trustees President Karl Meister, in a release. 
 
Barrett spent 20 years as a vice-president with The Chase Manhattan Bank where she began in international strategic planning and later specialized in client management. She received her MBA at New York University's Stern School of Business. From 1995-2006, Barrett served on the Board of Trustees of The Shakespeare Theatre and from 2000-03 served as Board President.
