Nor'easter Closes Madison Schools, Borough Offices

Garbage pickup has been moved to Friday and overnight street parking has been banned.

A Nor'easter that is expected to dump about a foot of snow in the area has closed Madison schools and all borough offices on Thursday.

All Thursday evening meetings and activities have also been rescheduled, according to a Nixle alert released Wednesday evening. Thursday's garbage pickup has also been moved to Friday and overnight street parking has been banned for Wednesday and Thursday nights.

A winter storm warning has been issued until 6 a.m. Friday with 8 to 14 inches of snow and nearly an inch of ice possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Travel conditions will be treacherous Thursday with heavy snow and wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour, the NWS said. The heavy wet snow combined with the high winds could down limbs and power lines.
