Memorial Day Parade, Baseball, Pool Opening Highlight Holiday Activities

Remembrance ceremony set for Hartley Dodge.

The Rose City will kick off the unofficial start to summer with a slate of pool and parade events over the long Memorial Day weekend.

The baseball team hosts Rutherford today at 4 p.m. in the second round of the NJSIAA state sectional playoffs. The Dodgers are 19-8 after a 5-1 win over Morristown on Thursday.

The on Rosedale Avenue will open its doors for its 44th season on May 28 from noon-6 p.m. Members may pick up their badges and swim, and additional sign-ups for swim team and swim lessons will be taken. Those interested in becoming new members are encouraged to come by and tour the facility and meet the staff.

On May 30 Madison's Memorial Day ceremonies and parade get underway at James Park at 9 a.m. The parade starts at Condurso Park at 9:30 a.m., and continues east on Main Street to Prospect Avenue. At that time, a solemn remembrance ceremony will be held on the steps of the municipal building on Kings Road.

The , 529 Green Village Rd., Green Village, will hold a Memorial Day service and wreath-laying May 30 at the memorial stone on the green in Green Village at 8:30 a.m. Following the service, Fire Department members will be marching in New Vernon Fire Department's annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade begins at 9 a.m. The Green Village Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to Chatham and Harding Townships.
