Madison Dentist To Be Honored By Museum Of Early Trades And Crafts

Sam Romano has kept up with the technological curve and conducted free clinics for underserved children in New Jersey.

Since 7,000 BC, human beings have been tinkering around with teeth to remedy ills and keep the mouth hygienic, which eventually evolved into modern dentistry.

The Board of Trustees of the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts will honor a practitioner of this age-old trade Sam Romano of Madison as its Craftsman of the Year Sunday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at the museum itself.

Romano opened his practice in 1986 after graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University and University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey. He began as a humble practice before adapting to high-tech innovations used by dentists today.

He has pursued further education and training to keep up with these latest advances, earning him the title of a Clinical Instructor at the Kois Center for Dental Excellence in Seattle.

Not only has he stayed on top of the game, but has conducted free clinics to provide preventative and restorative care to underserved children in New Jersey and as far as Guatemala.

"You'll never feel as good as when you do something for somebody else," Romano said. "The greatest gift is when you have what somebody else needs, and you can give it to them."

Single tickets to the event are $35 and $50 for benefactor tickets. Prospective attendees are asked to RSVP by June 1.

Tickets may be purchased by phone at 973-377-2982 x14 or online at www.metc.org.
