Library Announces Caricature Drawing Workshop, Free Movies

App party, program on Morris County landmarks also in store.

Two free movie showings, an event to learn about mobile device apps and a caricature drawing workshop are planned at the Madison Public Library, 39 Keep Street, in November.

A local photographer also is scheduled to discuss his favorite landmarks in Morris County. The adult programs are free and open to the public. (Registration may be required.)

Here's the lineup, from a library announcement:

"Wednesday Night at the Movies," a free program that does not require reservations, will feature two films in November. "Admission" starring Tina Fey, Paul Rudd and Lily Tomlin, will be shown Nov. 6 at 7p.m. The comedy is rated PG-13 and is 107 minutes long. It is about an uptight Princeton admissions officer who encounters a teenage prodigy who may be her long lost son while recruiting students from an alternative high school.

"Unfinished Song" 
will be shown on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. This comedy/drama is rated PG- 93 minutes and stars Terence Stamp, Vanessa Redgrave, Gemma Arterton. The funny and uplifting story of Arthur, a curmudgeon old soul perfectly content with sticking to his dull daily routine until his beloved wife introduces him to a spirited local singing group led by the youthful and charming Elizabeth. This unexpected friendship and his discovery of music revitalizes Arthur's passion for new adventures and shows us all life should be celebrated at any age.

A caricature workshop will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Learn the art of drawing caricatures, or cartoon versions of yourself, your friends, family or anyone you want! Participants will be shown examples of caricatures, they'll learn the basic skills of drawing facial features, then will create several black and white caricatures of each other.  You don't have to be an expert - you only need to be able to draw a round circle, and the rest is funThe workshop is limited to those 16 and up. Registration is required. Call 973-377-0722 ext. 2.

The library's first ever App Party on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7p.m. in the Chase Room. Come and share your favorite Apps.  Learn about new Apps from others.   We’ll tell you some of ours, too!  Bring your iPhone, iPad or whatever mobile device you use.   This event will focus on Apple products.  You must register for this program.  Call us at 973-377-0722 ext. 2.

A program on the Landmarks of Morris County Thursday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. For 25 years beginning in 1986, local photographer Jim DelGiudice provided the images for the Morris County Heritage Commission’s "Historic Highlights" Walking Tour Series. Join Jim for another Morris County road trip, as he takes on his favorite landmarks and historic sites—in each of our county’s 39 towns! Some of them are so famous we take them for granted as we pass by them every day.
