Chabad to use Mobile  Sukkah to  share celebration of Jewish Holiday of Sukkot

 Chabad of SE Morris County, a Jewish outreach, educational and social service organization serving Madison, Florham Park The Chatham’s, and East Hanover, will be using a Mobile Sukkah to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot (The Festival of Booths), which begins on Sunday  evening, September 30th , and ends on Tuesday , October 9th. The Mobile Sukkah will be brought to the local universities, and to many local senior centers, businesses and homes during the course of the holiday.

Jewish people traditionally spend time during the holiday in an outdoor hut called a Sukkah as a reminder of the shelter that God provided the Jewish people with during their forty years of wandering through the desert on the way to Israel following the Exodus from Egypt. The Sukkah is a symbol of Jewish unity, and “Sukkah parties” are a common way to celebrate the holiday.

“Many people have heard of the holiday of Sukkot, but don’t have access to a Sukkah, said Rabbi Shalom Lubin, Director of the Chabad Jewish Center. Our portable Sukkah will be making stops at local businesses, the FDU Campus, many local senior facilities and private homes, to give people the ability to join in the festivities”.
