Elm Street Reopens After Months of Bridge Repairs

Roadway had been closed since December.

Elm Street has reopened.

The road had been closed at the NJ Transit bridge since December while repairs were made to the bridge.

Madison police announced the reopening in a Nixle alert on Wednesday.

"Elm Street bridge repairs are now complete and the roadway is open to traffic," the alert said.

The repair work was part of $1.5 million NJ Transit project to fix the bridge and a retaining wall that runs along Kings Road.

An announcement on the borough website thanked residents for their patience.

"New Jersey Transit Rail has opened the Elm Street underpass to thru-traffic as of July 3rd and indicated there are a number of punchlist items that remain to be completed over the next two weeks, thereafter the project will be deemed substantially complete," it said. "NJT and the Borough thank the affected residents for their patience and cooperation during the construction project."
