Dodge Foundation Makes $92,500 in Madison-Related Grants

Seven organizations benefit from Rose City's benefactor.

The Borough of Madison and organizations based in town received grants from The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation totaling $92,500 in 2011.

The Morristown-based organization was created in 1974 and endowed in the will of Madison benefactor Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge. In its own words, the Foundation nurtures "people, ideas, and institutions which transcend self-interest and contribute to a sustainable human society and the environment which shelters it."

In 2011, Dodge made 233 grants totaling $10.5 million, including these local grants:

  • $2,000, Borough of Madison, for the History project if funds are still needed, otherwise for youth programs;
  • $25,000, Institute for Sustainable Enterprise, , to support the Morristown town government sustainability operations initiative, particularly in relation to the development and implementation of the town's Sustainability Master Plan;
  • $35,000, , for general operating support;
  • $125,000, , for general operating support of mainstage and educational programs;
  • $1,000, ;
  • $4,500, St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center;
  • $25,000, , for the Hall of Sciences Capital Campaign.
