Police warned residents to stay away from the animal and to take pets indoors.

Madison Police warned residents Tuesday morning after a bear was spotted in the area of Garfield Avenue.

Police advised residents to not feed the bear, to take pets indoors and to stay away from the bear, according to a Nixle alert.

At least the bear knows what it's doing. Great to see the NJ black bear population hasn't been destroyed by the ridiculous bear hunts. Go Bears!!!!
