Madison Area YMCA Winter 2014 Classes and Registration

The Madison Area YMCA Winter 2014 Session begins Monday, January 27, with an exciting lineup of 10- and 20-week offerings.

 

Priority registration for members begins Tuesday, January 14, at 7:30 p.m. Registration for members is on-going, both online and in-person. Non-members may register in person only starting Tuesday, January 21, at 9:00 a.m. The schedule includes new classes in various areas for all ages from parent/child to adult.

Winter registration is the last opportunity to enroll children for a Performing Arts class until the Summer 2014 session. Program registration will not be available as of February 8 as the annual performance scheduled for Saturday, June 7, will be underway. Additional costume charges apply for those participating in the performance.

New offerings in the Performing Arts department include: Cheerleading for 5-8 year olds, Hip Hop Choreography for 7-12 year olds, Acting Skills & Theatre Lab for 7-12 year olds and Ballet III/Pre Pointe (by invitation only) for 8-12 year olds.

 

The gymnastics department’s new offerings include: Tumble Tots for 2 ½ - 3 year olds and Rumble, a run and tumble class, for children in grades1-2 and grades 3-5.

 

New aquatics classes include Intro to Swim Clinic for ages 6-9 and 10-13. Intro to Swim is designed for swimmers who would like to prepare for competitive swimming. This program focuses on critique and modifications of racing strokes while building endurance. Progressive Swim Clinic is for swimmers who have already taken our Swim Clinic. This clinic is a fast-paced, technical class that focuses on racing starts, flip turns and advanced stroke technique. More information about both clinics is available in the program guide.

 

Adult aquatics classes include Adult Intermediate, which is designed for adults who have completed our beginner class and can swim 25 yards but need guidance with their continuing stroke technique and endurance. Adult Stroke Clinic is for adults who have either completed our Intermediate level clinic or can swim 50 yards of freestyle or backstroke. Swimmers will refine of their strokes while continuing to build their endurance.

 

New adult offerings include: TRX Small Group Training is a progressive group training for all fitness levels and all fitness goals. Utilizing one’s own body weight, our trainers will challenge the group through a series of exercises that build strength, endurance, balance, coordination, flexibility, power and core stability. TRX TEAM Training engages your core on every exercise in addition to providing cardio in every workout. Our TRX Small Group Training Class is a 9-week progressive workout designed to deliver maximum results.

 

Mve chair Small Group Training is a fast-paced, fun class utilizing the Peak MVe® Pilates Chair. Incorporating Pilates fundamental exercises to give you a great workout, chair class focuses on building strength, coordination, and balance. As a change from many Pilates classes where most of the exercises are performed while lying down, chair work is mainly performed starting upright in a sitting or standing position, creating a totally new challenge for the core muscles

 

Boxing-Classic boxing using the boxing ring steps, punching fundamentals and aerobics. This class will help you to increase your speed, agility, strength and most of all lose weight.

 

AMP’d is a metabolic circuit style training with multi joint moves using the large muscle groups and structured to challenge you with minimum rest and maximum work. Amp up your metabolism and make your body an efficient fat burning machine at REST. 

 

BPM Bootcamp is the class to get the workout of a dancer! Stretch, strengthen, and sculpt major muscles in the body while getting a cardio workout. It's a taste of New York City Club Dance music which incorporates exercises and dance moves to improve flexibility and build endurance, strength and lose weight No dance experience required!
