Madison YMCA Performers Shine in 'A Trip Around the World'

More than 300 children ages 2 to 13 participated in Performing Arts end-of-year performance.

Audience members were transported to exotic and international destinations at the Madison Area YMCA’s third annual Performing Arts End-of-Year performance as dancers, singers and actors took them across the high seas and around the globe in its rendition of “A Trip Around the World.”

The stage at the College of St. Elizabeth’s Annunciation Center in Convent Station was transformed into a kaleidoscope of cultures when more than 300 performers from 2 to 13 years old took the stage dancing, singing and acting. “A Trip Around the World,” featured Creative Movement, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Irish dance, drama, acting and musical theater numbers with music and costumes reflecting the cultures of Trinidad, Cuba, Egypt, India, China, Norway, Ireland, England, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Russia, Turkey, Antarctica and the United States.

Memorable numbers included a show-stopper from the Broadway musical “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” Dressed as nerds and singing “I Speak Six Languages,” performers sang and danced their way into the hearts of audience members. Boys showed off their skills and talent in several numbers including the Hip Hop hit, “We Speak No Americano.” The Pre-Tap class featured an adorable duet, “Boy from New York City.”
