More About Hartley Dodge Memorial Municipal Building
The Hartley Dodge Memorial houses Madison's borough hall, shared municipal court, and most of its government offices. The marble and granite edifice was dedicated on May 30, 1935 in memory of Marcellus Hartley Dodge, Jr., son of Madison residents Marcellus Hartley Dodge, Sr. and Ethel Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge, heirs to the Standard Oil fortune. The younger Dodge had died in a car accident in 1930 at the age of 22. Mrs. Dodge donated the building, which is overseen by trustees, to the borough. The Memorial re-opened in 2010 following an extensive two-year renovation.
Madison's municipal court is located at Hartley Dodge, and is part of a shared services agreement with Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, and Harding Township.
