What better way to celebrate new beginnings than to spend a Sunday afternoon being entertained and amazed by an award-winning gifted 14-year-old violinist playing with incredibly talented musicians of all ages under the baton of an acclaimed conductor? Admission to this exciting musical opportunity is free. On Sunday, February 10th at 3pm in beautiful Dolan Performance Hall at The College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, Noel Kim, a Juilliard Precollege student from Tenafly and winner of the 2012 NJIO Young Artists Competition, will perform the intensely expressive and romantic Dvorak Violin Concerto, accompanied by the intergenerational orchestra with musicians ranging in age from 7 to 87. Guest Conductor Warren Cohen, Music Director and Conductor of the celebrated Scottsdale, Arizona orchestra, MusicaNova, and the newly appointed Concert Artist in Conducting at Kean University, will lead the NJIO Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Gavin Davies will lead the Intermezzo Orchestra in a musical program of “New Beginnings.” Mr. Cohen, a celebrated composer and conductor, having received several ASCAP awards for original composition and the ASCAP/American Symphony Orchestra League’s Award for Adventurous Programming, has conducted thousands of works, including scores of regional and world premieres. As winter draws to a close and spring is close at hand, Mr. Cohen has selected for this program of “New Beginnings” Rameu’s audacious and delightful musical romp ”Les Indes Galantes” and Haydn’s sparkling tribute to the morning, his 6th Symphony, “Le Matin.”
