I spent this past weekend enjoying phenomenal performances by Madison students. On Friday evening, I watched my twins and the fourth and fifth graders at TJS perform "Alice in Wonderland." These young actors and actresses did a fabulous job under the direction of parent volunteers led by Anne Marie Collins. Quite honestly, when I picked my children up from their dress rehearsal on Tuesday, I was somewhat skeptical if they would be able to pull the show off in only three days. I, along with so many other parents, was amazed how it all came together in the end. I hope the smiles and sense of accomplishment that these children demonstrated will continue throughout their education.
The following evening, I took my children to see "The Wizard of Oz" at MHS. I must say, a fabulous job was done by all the actors, the crew and the pit. I was very impressed with the new rigging and my twins certainly enjoyed watching Glinda and the monkeys fly on stage. My children were excited to see where their interest in performing arts could lead them. I'm sure that the young munchkins who participated, realized how much work is involved before you are able to take that final bow. I'm not sure many members of the audience realize the amount of time, dedication and cost involved putting on a show, but the price of a ticket to see the students perform, is certainly well worth it. That's why the performances were all sold out.
I have always enjoyed attending Broadway Musicals, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the performers I've seen on the MHS stage appear on Broadway someday. The Madison Music Association together with the Producers Club continues to support programs that enable students to achieve their dreams. To paraphrase Dorothy, "There's no place like Madison."
Once again, congratulations to all those involved in the performances and thank you for a job well done.

Karen,
Thanks for your article.
My daughter was a munchkin! I saw the show twice and all of the rehearsals! There was a lot of hard work and dedication by all the cast and crew, as well as Mrs. Elefante, Miss Anne and others. I think this show surpassed anything I remember from high school and I believe these kids can definitely reach the stars.

It has been a privilege for my children to work with these professionals for their time in Madison. Their growth as performers and young adults has been largely due to this experience.
As well, it is with pure pleasure and awe that I have watched every performance of every cast, crew, and musician. Thank you to all who support the Arts in Madison.

I was the Wizard of Oz and it was delightful!!!!!!!!!!!! If these "kids" made any mistake it was not obvious!! The performance was very professional. All the kids seemed like they were dancing and singing for years. Great Job Everyone! kay
