The Sheraton Hotel in Parsippany played host to all sorts of creatures, musicians and celebrities in the annual Chiller Theater event this weekend. A constant flow of attendees from all over the area came to meet, be photographed with and get autographs from stars of television, movies and video. Also on hand were numerous vendors selling everything from T-shirts to voodoo dolls to jewelry. Some guests also dressed in costumes to share in the experience.

Jim Breuer is known for his mimicry skills. The actor, comedian and former "Saturday Night Live Star" has a series of characters that everyone knows him for. But at his Evening with Jim Breuer fundraiser for the Morris County Arts Workshop at the Hive in Chester, it was his impression of MCAW director Jane Shatz that nearly brought the house down. “The arts are alive and they are here in Chester,” Breuer said, with a perfect imitation of Shatz’s European lilt and delivery. Madison's James Library Building may see $21,375 from the New Jersey Historic Trust if the Legislature ultimately approves recommended Historic Preservation Grants. The Christie administration has included 37 preservation projects that would receive $1,393,084 in matching grant funding, including the James Library Building, which now houses the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts. The recommendations must go before the Garden State Preservation Trust for ratification before heading to the Legislature for approval. Over 60 homemade cakes, 30 high school volunteers and 13 student acts helped make the the Madison Music Association's annual "Dessert and Jazz" fundraiser a success this year. More than 200 people attended the sold-out "Dessert and Jazz" fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Madison High School. Organizers said the event was expected to raise over $3,500 for the association, which benefits the music, arts and theater programs throughout the Madison school district. Three artists behind the new short film "Bartleby," including the artistic director of Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey, who appears in the film, will be on hand for a post-viewing talkback session when the Black Maria Film and Video Festival makes a stop at the Madison Public Library on Friday, March 1. The adaptation of Herman Melville’s "Bartleby the Scrivener" is one of the films that will be shown during the festival tour stop. The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, in the library's Chase Room. Tickets are $10 at the door.
