State Sen. Richard Codey pulled the winning ticket, 0447.

Then, Marty Horn, Madison Athletic Foundation chairman, read the name.

"The winner is—Bruce Lovenberg," he said.

Councilman Don Links called out, "You're kidding me," and said he sold Lovenberg, a resident of the Long Valley section of Washington Township, the ticket.

The value of that winning ticket? Nearly $80,000.

So culminated the Madison Athletic Foundation’s first 50/50 Cash Raffle drawing held at noon on Saturday at the Madison Recreation Complex. The foundation started selling $100 tickets in January to raise money for the recently completed MRC synthetic turf fields project.

Codey said the fundraiser will have longlasting benefits.

"The children generations from now will also benefit," Codey said.
