It's a common scenario in today's world of real estate: You've got a good home to sell, on decent property, in a desirable town. Yet, buyers seem less than impressed after a walk-through. You don't want to drop the price again, but you're anxious to make a deal. What to do?

One word: Staging.

As its theatrical roots suggest, staging can transform a residence to help attract buyers and sell a house for at or near its listed price. The process can be a simple as putting a new coat of paint on a room, or as ambitious as changing out a houseful of furniture.

Madison Patch asked Angela Gagauf, certified home stager and president of NJ Home Staging and Redesign LLC, to give us an inside look at what staging is all about as she consulted on a property for Coccia Realty.
