Rex Ryan Relieved Dodgers Not on Jets Schedule

'Quite honestly, after seeing what Madison did to Summit, I'm glad they're not on there,' he told reporters, according to the Star-Ledger.

The head coach of the New York Jets gave Madison High School's championship football team a shout-out Tuesday night, saying he requested his NFL team face Madison and Summit high schools in the coming season, but then had second thoughts about going up against the Dodgers, according to a Star-Ledger report.

On a conference call about the season lineup, Rex Ryan joked to reporters he requested Madison and Summit, but they didn't appear on the schedule, the report said.

But then, he thought, that might be for the best.

"Quite honestly, after seeing what Madison did to Summit, I'm glad they're not on there," Ryan is quoted as saying.

Ryan's son plays for Summit, and when the teams competed against each other for the championship in December, Madison won 47-7.

Rex needs to hush up and get to work on his team. Stunts don't get you a championship and August is only four months away.
