Pound of Pot, $1,600 Seized From Madison Residence, Police Say
Borough resident charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.
More than a pound of marijuana, packaging materials, and $1,600 in cash was seized from a Madison man's residence, police said.
Police said Michael Hodukavich, 22, was charged on Aug. 17 with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, possession of marijuana over 50 grams, and possession with intent to distribute.
Police said an investigation that lasted several weeks led to a search warrant of Hodukavich's residence. Police said they found marijuana with an estimated street value of $7,500, packaging materials, items to grow marijuana, and $1,600 cash.
After processing, Hodukavich was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 bail, pending a mandatory court appearance, police said.

Not to split hairs, but since when has pot been considered a "narcotic"?

Tetrahydracannibinol is the active ingredient in Cannabis, Marijuana, Pot, Weed, whatever else it is called. Stop splitting hairs. Everyone knows it is illegal, whether you want to call it a narcotic or not. Alcohol and nicotine are also drugs, but they don't happen to be illegal. Nicotine contributes to heart, vascular, and lung disease as well as gum disease, premature skin aging, and tobacco odor. Alcohol in excess can contribute to bad behavior, bad driving, and alcoholism. A drug is a drug is a drug.

There needs to be more discussion regarding the rampant drug use in our schools. You cannot turn a blind eye. Pot use in our schools is a normal occurance. Wake up people! We live in a college town and pot is to accessable to our children. Our community shoud be more vigilant in keeping a watchful eye on these drug dealers. This isn't the 60's. Pot is not natural. It is still illegal. Your teenagers are exposed to it every day. A pound of pot laced with God knows what is off the streets. The streets our kids are hanging out on at night in our little town. We need to split hairs on this issue. Keep a closer eye on your kids and listen. You will be amazed at what they say.

@kcd You should educate yourself and be more concerned about prescription drug abuse and other harder drug than cannabis, a drug that has ACTUAL medicinal value.
