Fresh off restoring power in Madison, and then being contracted to help bring back electric in other towns through Wednesday, Madison Electric employees on Thursday put up Madison's Christmas tree at Main Street and Waverly Place.

Madison's Christmas parade and tree lighting is scheduled for 5 p.m. next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

the tree this year is sooo small!!! It is so bare and small! It looks horrible! to give you a reference, usually they have to remove the clock to fit in the tree- this year they didnt!!

Let's put everything in perspective....after the last few weeks, Madison continues its tradition of cutting down a tree, transporting it through town, putting it up and "lighting" it for all of us~after spending 2+ weeks "lighting" our homes. So whether the tree is smaller than usual...let's be grateful that Madison's tradition continues this year. Thank you to those who make this possible for "us".

John Reid of Coviello Bros., which transports the tree, said this year's tree is a Norway spruce that fell down amid Superstorm Sandy and got caught in some wires at Madison Apartments on Main Street.

I hear Linus saying, "I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It's not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love."
