Morris County Prosecutor Nominee Not on Agenda
Gov. Chris Christie 'continues to fully support' Fredric Knapp and wants there to be a fair hearing, his deputy press secretary says.
The New Jersey Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to meet next Thursday, but Gov. Chris Christie's nominee for the next Morris County prosecutor is nowhere on the agenda.
Fredric Knapp, a Randolph resident and founding member of the law firm Knapp, Trimboli & Prusinowski in Florham Park, was nominated in June for the position, but the Senate Judiciary Committee has not yet considered the nomination.
"Since the Governor filed his nomination, it continues to languish in the Senate," Sean Conner, Christie's deputy press secretary, said in an email this week. "The Governor continues to fully support Mr. Knapp and hopes he will receive a fair, open hearing and an up or down vote."
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Nicholas Scutari would have to provide information on the delay in the confirmation process, Conner said.
Scutari has not yet responded to messages about the nomination.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi continues to serve as prosecutor even though his five-year term technically ended June 22. On Monday, Bianchi said in court he is prepared to personally handle the prosecution of a man charged with vehicular homicide for allegedly crashing while intoxicated into a Mount Arlington police cruiser on Interstate 80 and killing Joseph Wargo, the officer inside.
Bianchi told the judge his status as prosecutor is "tenuous" and he will work to have a contingency plan for if he is replaced near the time of the trial, the Daily Record and The Star-Ledger reported.

Republican Senator McCain's and Republican Senator Graham’s" vows to do everything they can to block Susan Rice's appointment to Secretary of State, should the President choose to nominate her, fits within your definition of "hypocrisy".

Nope. McCain and Graham will give you chapter and verse on why they publicly oppose her potential nomination, and they are right to do so. It should also be noted that she hasn't been nominated so any claim of hypocrisy is speculative at best.
On the other hand, Slick Nick Scutari refuses to schedule a hearing for this nominee, or even say why he is refusing to schedule one. It's obvious that he's doing everything in his power to keep a Dem holdover in the job.
From last week's DR - "Sen. Nicholas Scutari, D-Union, the Judiciary Committee chairman, has canceled every session of the 13-member committee since September, including one to be held Dec. 6. Scutari did not return a call for comment Friday, but his office aide said a Judiciary Committee session is scheduled for Dec. 13.
However, a key member of the committee, Sen. Raymond J. Lesniak, D-Union, said it’s his understanding the Dec. 13 session also will be canceled, and the panel would not meet again this year."
As a "resident" of Morris county, you should be outraged that we are being denied a permanent prosecutor for cheap partisan purposes, instead you jump up whenever the word hypocrite makes its way into a Patch comment to defend the indefensible.

Meanwhile, back in NJ, the final Judiciary committee meeting for the year was held and Morris county was given the finger, again. Dems will do anything to keep their people in place.
