MAF Donates Field House to Madison
Building at Madison Recreation Center has a concession stand, restrooms and underground storage.
The Madison Borough Council this week formally accepted a donation of a field house that was built at the Madison Recreation Center by the Madison Athletic Foundation.
The field house has a concession stand, restrooms and underground storage.
Plans for the field house were approved in October of 2011 and the cost of the project was estimated to be more than $100,000.
The Madison Athletic Foundation, Inc., established in 2006 to promote athletics in the borough, uses funds raised from private donations to assist with community projects. It undertook a similar effort when it raised funds in 2006 for synthetic turf at Ted Monica Stadium and donated the field to the Board of Education.
"The MAF raises funds for athletics related projects and donates these projects once completed to the Borough or BOE, so they can properly maintain them," said Nino Coviello, a member of the Madison Athletic Foundation advisory board.
The governing body approved a resolution accepting the donation and expressing its gratitude at its Monday meeting.
