Madison's Refurbished Horn Welcomes 2013

10-second blasts from Hartley Dodge Memorial bell tower to bring in the new year, police said.

A newly refurbished horn in the bell tower of Hartley Dodge Memorial was to sound at midnight to bring in 2013, Madison police announced Monday.

The horn was to sound six, 10-second blasts to mark the start of the new year.

Overseen by trustees, Madison's borough hall on Kings Road was donated to Madison by Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge in 1935. It has been renovated in recent years and the building was rededicated in 2010.

How often is this horn going to sound? Is it going to be as frequent as the old "6 o'clock" whistle.

Please bring back the 6 o'clock whistle! I've been late for dinner ever since it stopped sounding.
