Madison Poll Locations Unchanged After Storm
Two seats on the Madison Borough Council and three seats on the Board of Education are up for vote Tuesday.
While some municipalities consolidated and moved polling places after Superstorm Sandy, poll locations are unchanged in Madison, the borough announced.
On Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., voters will cast their ballots to fill two seats on the Madison Borough Council and three seats on the Board of Education.
For Borough Council, two three-year seats are up for vote, with Democrats Astri Baillie, a former councilwoman, and Ben Wolkowitz running against GOP nominees Board of Health President John Hoover and Carmen Pico. Click on their names to see their candidate profiles.
Video of their comments and answers in a League of Women Voters forum held at the Madison Community House is available for viewing. The candidates discussed subjects including taxes, electric rates, the Health Department, and the dismissal and reinstatement of the borough administrator earlier in the year.
For the Madison Board of Education, three seats are up for vote.
Two incumbents, Lisa Ellis and Kevin Blair, are running together for re-election, and a third candidate, Brenda Catalanello, who also ran last year, is vying for one of the seats.
Linda Gilbert is running unopposed to fulfill the remaining year of a term she was appointed to last year.

Tomorrow is the Big Day - Madisonians get to decide if they want to go back to the failed Democrat fiscal policies of Astri Baillie, including unprecedented increases in Spending, Taxes, Borrowing and Utility Rates.
During her reign -
* Property Taxes Increased by 45%
* Electric Rates Increased by 80%
* Water Rates Increased by 60%
* Total Debt Incurred - $30,000,000
* Annual Debt Service Increased by $2,000,000
* Contaminated Properties Purchased - 2
* Surplus Savings Used to Avoid Hard Decisions - $3,400,000
Instead, Madison has an opportunity to move forward with sane fiscal policies, real planning for the future, investments in infrastructure, no tax increases and a much needed reduction in the electric rate.
Vote for JOHN HOOVER & CARMEN PICO. Madison CANNOT afford Three Years of a Democrat council led by Astri Baillie.

Love how when the Dems spend you call it "debt" but when the Reps spend you call it "investment". Nice spin job. You can thank Jeannie & Co. for the landslide victory by Baillie and Ben in today's election. Their insane handling of the borough administrator debacle sealed their fate long ago.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
As for Investment vs. Debt, the Republicans managed to to get a lot of work done the last few years without adding to the annual debt service line of the budget. Almost 20% of the borough's tax levy is to cover the cost of Debt incurred by Ms. Baillie and her Democrat majorities. If you want Insane, that's a better definition. If she had made better choices the borough wouldn't have been scratching around trying to save another $200K.

Wonder what the polls would look like today if CBS/60 Minutes had told the whole story months ago, instead of releases the key section of the interview with zero fanfare just hours before people started voting in person, and weeks after millions had already voted.
