Madison Junior School Students Stars of Local Poetry Reading

Public event capped four-week writing course.

The snows of yesteryear may be gone from this Earth, the poet Villon wrote, but the creative will knows no season.

Madison Junior School sixth- and seventh-grade students gathered with friends and family in late July at Drip for a poetry reading.

The students had participated in a four-week summer writing class under the instruction of teacher Paige Henry, focusing on poetry, creative writing and digital storytelling.

The reading was held as a culmination and celebration of their creative efforts.

"I am so proud of the students that participated in Mrs. Henry's poetry workshop," said MJS Principal Nicole Sherrin. "It was wonderful to see them over the summer, stretched out in the shade on the front lawn, busily writing poetry, and I know this will have a positive impact on their writing in the future."
