Madison made a statement early and often against the previously undefeated Chatham Saturday afternoon at Ted Monica Stadium, scoring 22 points in the first quarter while Justin Goodwin and Shone Register rang up multiple rushing touchdowns. The defense allowed just one first down in the first half and held Chatham scoreless until late in the fourth quarter.

IN SHORT 

A high-octane running game fueled the home team as Goodwin rushed for two touchdowns, and added an 85-yard kickoff return for a score in the fourth quarter. Register added two scores, while Dilan Kluge and Carson Lassiter ran for one touchdown apiece.

DODGER OF THE GAME

The defense. It held the Cougars to 150 yards of total offense — including negative two yards of passing — and would've had a shutout if not for a 70-yard touchdown run from Chatham's Dylan Adams in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter. The Dodgers also recovered a fumble to set up a score and added a sack. In addition, the visitors finagled just three first downs in the game.
