Madison High Grad's College Team to Play at H.S.
Rensselaer Polytechnic facing Lebanon Valley at 3 p.m. Saturday, following noon Dodgers game.
Madison High School graduate Grant Foulsham is scheduled to play what could be his last college lacrosse game on what will, for him, be familiar turf.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the school Foulsham attends in Troy, N.Y., is scheduled to play Lebanon Valley at 3 p.m. Saturday at Madison High School, following the Dodgers game.
Foulsham was captain of the Madison High School squad in 2008 and has coached in the Madison junior program in the summers.
The Dodgers are scheduled to play West Essex at noon at Ted Monica Stadium.
Kevin Beattie, Rensselaer's associate athletic director, said it's not common for colleges to play at high schools, but it comes up every so often when teams want to play a neutral site game.
Rensselaer has other players from New Jersey, so the Madison game will be an opportunity for them to play closer to their hometowns. Another plus is that Rensselaer alumni who live in the area are eager to attend the game as well, Beattie said.
For many of the players, Saturday will be their last collegiate game unless there's an upset during another matchup that send them to the playoffs, but they're not counting on it.
"It will be special in a lot of ways," Beattie said of the Madison game. "Hopefully most special by a win."
