UPDATED: Parolee Wanted in Texas Arrested Going Door-to-Door by Boro Police

Police alerted by Neighborhood Watch.

A Dallas man wanted for a parole violation in Texas was arrested by Madison police last week.

On June 8 at 8:26 a.m., Det. Lt. Jerry Mantone and Ptl. Matt Mirabella arrested John Kession, 46, and Ivan Hamilton, 43, of Dallas, Texas. They were charged with soliciting without a permit. Mantone responded to Grove Street after receiving a call from a National Night Out/Neighborhood Watch citizen, who reported that there was a suspicious person going door-to-door. The pair were allegedly soliciting for a company out of California inquiring about residents hosting international students for the summer, said Police Information Officer Lt. Darren Dachisen.

Mantone stopped the individuals on Grove Street. After a brief field investigation, their names were checked on the National Crime Information Computer which revealed that Kession was wanted for a parole violation in Texas. They were both transported to headquarters for processing. After processing Hamilton was released pending a mandatory court appearance for soliciting without a permit. Kession was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility and is being held pending extradition by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Madison Ptl. Luis Goncalves also assisted with the arrest.

 Also on the blotter on June 12 at 2:25 a.m., Sgt. Peter Iossa arrested 51- year-old Adrienne Doobin of Summit and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol. Iossa initially stopped Doobin on Route 24 for a speeding violation, and determined that she was alledgedly under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to headquarters for processing and released to a friend pending a mandatory court appearance. She was also issued a motor vehicle summons for speeding.

On June 12 at 12:48 a.m., Ptl. Chad Rybka arrested Peter Cirillo, 28, of Morris Plains and charged him with driving under the influence. He initially stopped Cirillo for a motor vehicle violation on Madison Avenue, and determined that he was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Cirillo was transported to headquarters for processing and released pending a mandatory court appearance. Cirillo was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to maintain lamps.

On June 11 at 1:42 p.m., Ptl. Sean McCarthy arrested 20-year-old Matthew Otis of Chatham Township and charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia. McCarthy had stopped Otis for a motor vehicle violation near 300 Main Street, at which time he determined that he was allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia. Otis was transported to headquarters for processing and released pending a mandatory court appearance. A passenger in the vehicle was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to wear a seat belt.

Earlier on June 11 at 2:28 a.m., Iossa arrested Susan Nugent, 25, of North Caldwell and charged her with driving while under the influence. Iossa initially stopped Nugent for driving on Main Street with damage and noise coming from the right side of her vehicle. He determined that she was allegedly operating her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to headquarters for processing and released to a friend pending a mandatory court appearance. Nugent was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to maintain a lane.

On June 7 at 1:35 a.m., Iossa arrested Hung Luk, 51, of Mendham and charged him with driving under the influence. Iossa had stopped Luk for a motor vehicle violation on Route 24 and determined that he was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to headquarters for processing and released to a friend pending a mandatory court appearance. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to maintain a lane and careless driving.

The Madison Police Department, Fire Department, and Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to 13 medical emergencies during the week. The police investigated five motor vehicle crashes during the week.
