Attention Turns to Post-Storm Cleanup

Borough asks residents to help get sidewalks and curbs cleared of debris.

With school back in session and power restored to most of Madison, the borough is turning its attention to cleanup.

Borough officials are asking residents to help get the sidewalks and curbs cleared of debris as soon as possible. Residents are encouraged to cut limps down and either bundle them or place them in containers at the curb for weekly pickup.

“This is the fastest way to get rid of limbs, leaves and debris,” said a statement issued by the borough.

The following guidelines apply:

Twigs and branches up to two inches in diameter may be tied in four-foot bundles or put in reusable containers.

Containers should have handles, total weight cannot exceed 80 pounds and materials cannot stick out more than two feet from the top of the container.

Place all leaves in containers no larger than 30 gallons or in biodegradeable paper bags. Free bags are available at the public works garage and in various borough officers.

They are chipping right now, one time only, so if you want to get your stuff to the curb to be chipped, do it NOW. Some roads are already done.

what neighborhood are you in? Would be good if they'd post how they are going to attack the Burough so we can be sure to be ready. :)

It's spelled "borough," not "burough."

borough, borrow, burrow, burro (i.e., Juan Valdez's old school ride).

English is one tough language.

It is, but the word was included in the story, and seeing the misspelling time-after-time in posts was driving me crazy (or should I say Mad?) (PF - insert snide comment below).

Methinks PF is actually a nom de plume
