As Always, Davis A Sure Thing for Madison Wrestling

Junior continues to flaunt reliability in dual meets.

wrestler Patsy Davis has been stellar all season long and this past week saw more of the same. The junior 119-pounder improved his record to a team-best 30-3 as the Dodgers get set for today's conference title match against Parsippany.

First, Davis stopped Irvington’s Alex Reeves—a 2010 District 10 runner-up—by a 4-2 decision, helping the Dodgers to a 56-11 victory.

A day later Davis was at it again, stopping Gov. Livingston’s Anthony DeFranco (14-6), with a second-period fall.

This season, Davis’ only losses have come in the finals of tournaments, and each by just one point.

After finishing second overall at 119 pounds in the Morris County Tournament on Jan. 28, Davis wrestled in the Sussex-Morris All-Star Match, stopping Lenape Valley's Matt Benvenuto by an 8-2 decision, on the way to a 30-19 Morris victory.

Madison head coach Steve Healey is well aware of the value that Davis’ reliability brings to this team.

“Patsy has pulled through in every dual meet this season with a perfect mark heading into our last dual match [tonight],” Healey said. “In other words, he pretty much guarantees us team points in every dual meet. Not to mention, there are usually bonus points included in that guarantee. What else could you ask for as a coach?"

“The best part is he is only a junior,” Healey added.
