Activities to Feed All of Your Senses With the Help of the Planner

Plenty to see and do as September turns to October.

 

Concerts, the Bard, a motorcycle display, art and photo exhibits, and a bike ride highlight our activity planner, presented for your enjoyment. Check out the happenings in and around Madison.

Downtown Concert Series
Where/When:
 At 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts in Madison.
Why Go:
Because you can bring a blanket or chair for a free family-friendly outdoor music concert on the lawn of the museum.
Pricing:
 Free.

'Othello' Playing at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey
Where/When:
 From 8 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison.
Why Go:
Because a night at the theater sounds like a great way to spend your weekend. Plus, this play hasn’t been seen on The Shakespeare Theatre stage since 2003.
Pricing:
 $32 to $55.

Running Company Beginner Group Runs
Where/When: From 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Morristown Running Company.
Why Go: Because you are a beginner who wants to start running, regardless of age.
Pricing: Free.

The Mothers’ Club
Where/When:
 From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Postpartum Place in Chatham.
Why Go:
Mothers and their babies can come to this fun, social time and receive expert advice in a safe and supportive environment. 
Pricing:
 Free.

'The Power of 9' Art Exhibition
Where/When:
 From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at the Arts Council of the Morris Area.
Why Go:
Because this art exhibit will feature 40 unique works by eight professional artists.
Pricing:
 Free.

Smooth Sounds at the Famished Frog
Where/When:
 At 11 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at The Famished Frog in Morristown.
Why Go:
To enjoy great live music.
Price:
No cover.

Medicinal Plants of the Civil War
Where/When:
 At 11 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township.
Why Go:
Because this exhibit, inspired by a collection of rare books at the arboretum, will focus on the roll of medical botany during the Civil War.
Price:
Free.

Joan Lamensdorf Art Exhibit
Where/When:
 From 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Harding Gallery.
Why Go:
Because you can spend a Friday night with some wine and some beautifully serene landscapes made with pastels.
Pricing:
 Free.

100 Years of Motorcycles
Where/When: From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Morris Museum in Morris Township.
Why Go:
Because this exhibit will feature some of the coolest bikes from the past 100 years.
Pricing:
 $10 for adults, or $7 for children, students and seniors.

Saturday Morning Road Ride
Where/When:
Starting at Marty’s Reliable Cycle in Morristown at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and trekking 20 miles through Harding and Chatham, then back to Morristown.
Why Go:
Because you’d like a workout to start your Saturday morning, or because the weather is warming up. Rain or snow cancels.
Pricing: Free.

Greystone Photo Exhibit
Where/When:
 From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at The Morristown and Morris Township Library.
Why Go:
You can stop by the library and check out this new collection of photographs.
Pricing:
 Free.

Art Show
Where/When: From 2:15 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at The Library of the Chathams.
Why Go:
Take some time out on Sunday to view “Spectral Selves,” an art show featuring paintings, prints, and drawings worked in oil, acrylic and Conté.
Pricing:
 Free.
