5 Things to Know This Week

Much to see and do this week in the Rose City.

 

Not busy enough? Looking for a little diversion? From municipal government to mindfulness training to a big, bad -- and free -- concert, there's something for everyone this week in Madison.

Monday — The Mayor and Borough Council meet at Hartley Dodge Memorial Municipal Building at 8 p.m. An environmental consulting contract, fire department personnel confirmations, and assorted appropriations are among the agenda items.

Tuesday — A new exhibit, Whimsies: Ken Olsen & the Folk Art Tradition, opens at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts. The Madison High School girls and boys soccer teams host Pequannock at 4 p.m.

Wednesday — Classes in historic preservation sponsored by Drew University begin this month, download a registration form online at Drew’s web site: www.drew.edu/historicpreservation. Free Caregiver Support Group sponsored by Family Service of Morris County's Adult Day Center of Madison, 7 p.m. at 4 Division Ave.

Thursday — Learn about mindfulness practice at Whole Foods' Lunch & Learn series with speaker Angel C. Duncan, Programs Director for Senior Helpers, who has an extensive background in adult and geriatric psychiatry and dementia care.

Friday — Big Bad Irish star in the free Downtown Concert series, 6 p.m. at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, 9 Main Street.
