Vendor Fair, Concert to Benefit Tommy's Angels
The public is invited to a Vendor Fair to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life team, Tommy's Angels, on Saturday, June 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Madison Elks Lodge, 192 Main Street, Madison. Jewelry, cosmetics, accessories, kitchen gear, gifts for baby and the home will be available from more than ten vendors. There will also be a silent auction and bake sale.
At 11:30 a.m., several dynamic local musicians will perform for the shoppers. Patty Doyle, an indy/pop singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist from Madison, will perform original songs and favorite cover songs. Doyle is dedicating her performance to her aunt, Cher Will, a Lymphoma survivor. Doyle’s is available on iTunes, YouTube, and Facebook. Singers Abi Raymaker and Becca Johnson will perform a selection of acoustic covers, and accompany themselves on guitar, ukulele, kazoo, and hand drum. Johnson is dedicating her performance to her relatives Tricia Johnson and Talbott Allen, who are undergoing treatment for cancer. The performers are all members of the jazz chorus at Madison High School.
Prospect Street, a local band comprised of Madison Junior School students, will perform rock music from Aerosmith, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and others. Members include Ransom Silliman as lead vocalist, Ethan Alexander on guitar, Tyler Campbell on bass, and Brian Culligan playing drums. The instrumentalists have been playing together for three years and they asked vocalist Silliman to join the band after he played the role of Tevye in the Madison Junior School production of “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.” in February. On June 15, Prospect Street will compete in the school’s talent show.
Tommy’s Angels is a Relay for Life team in support of Tom Sych, a cancer survivor who is currently a junior at Madison High School and studying to be an electrician at Morris County Vocational/Technical School. Founded by junior Kathy Meyer, the team has raised close to $10,000 for the American Cancer Society since its creation in 2009. Donations to “Tommy's Angels” may be sent to: American Cancer Society, Attention: Relay for Life of Madison/Florham Park, 7 Ridgedale Ave., Suite 103, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07920, or submitted online at www.relayforlife.org/Madison-NJ.
