Madison Area YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day Events
Saturday, April 28, marks a special event for kids of all ages and their families. Healthy Kids Day, an annual event at the Madison Area YMCA’s Family Center will be held outdoors, on the fields promoting healthy lifestyles for the whole family. There will be plenty of fun-filled free activities open to the community.
From 1 to 3 p.m., the Y will focus on nutrition, physical activity, safety and fun! To start this “Take on Summer” event, the first activity will take place at 1:00pm with Kids Fun Run races. Children ranging in age from newly able to walk to 2 year olds will participate in the 25 yard Tiny Toddler Trot, 3 year olds to 5 year olds will run 50 yards in the Big Kids, Little Run and kids ages 6 and older will run 100 yards in the Kid’s Dash.
Local organizations and businesses such as the Madison Fire and Police Departments will pay a visit. Bring your own bike and helmet for Madison Bike Shop’s Bike Rodeo. Other events such as Jerzey Derby Brigade’s Hula Hoop and Jump Contest and New York Life child’s ID fingerprints will be available as well as raffles for massages, free babysitting, personal training, summer camp week, swim lessons, a gymnastics party and more! Obstacle courses, a dance party, crafts, moon bounce, temporary tattoos and face painting will also be part of the fun!
Healthy Kids Day is the nation’s largest health day for children and families, and is capable of bringing more than 700,000 kids and families to more than 1,500 YMCAs across the country this year.
